CATEK successfully integrated welding robots, and reap the benefits

Uniwelco has helped CATEK Smed & Maskinværksted with the integration of the welding robots in their production and they may very well not be the last robots in the company. Jernindustri.dk has written an article on this topic.

The collaboration between Catek and Uniwelco is a prime example of how the robots are no-longer exclusively aimed towards the largest industrial players, where large sizeable investments are required, and where the integration is more often than not, time-consuming. This is far from the truth today, where the collaborative robots are more available than ever, both cost-wise, but also in terms of the requirements put towards the workers; most people can actually program the robot today and this is definitely seen as a clear benefit for CATEK:

"The first robot had run for four days, and then I purchased the second one. That was on a friday, and we had that robot in our hands the following tuesday, where it was ready to go immediately. It's extremely easy to program, and that means that we can give it a lot of different tasks." Carsten Laursen, director for CATEK says.

This means, that the company from Randers can insource some of the work previously outsourced to the east and have thus increased their competitiveness.
